      1. According to the comprehensive news of the South African Citizen and Eyewitness network on August 14, after the 13th BRICS Agriculture Ministers' Meeting, Didiza, Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development of South Africa, held bilateral talks with Tang Renjian, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China. The two countries will strengthen cooperation in farmland construction, water-saving irrigation, facility cultivation and trade of agricultural products, and work together to play a bigger role in international food and agriculture governance. South Africa has been trying to enter the Chinese food market, hoping to achieve more value-added growth in agriculture, and in the talks with Tang Renjian, the South African side saw positive progress in the export of fruits, vegetables and meat.

     2. According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture on August 12, Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alexander Levin attended the 13th Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Agriculture in South Africa. Levin said that Russia continues to steadily accelerate the pace of agricultural production, fully guarantee the domestic supply of necessary agricultural products, and is a reliable exporter of agricultural products. The cooperation between Russia and other BRICS countries has shown a positive momentum of development. The trade volume of agricultural products increased by nearly 40 percent last year and by 50 percent in the first half of this year.

     3. According to the Argentine National news Agency recently, the Rosario Grain Exchange forecast that the 2023/24 year soybean sowing area will stop falling and rise to 17 million hectares, an increase of 6.2%, and the annual soybean production is expected to rise to 48 million tons, an increase of 140%. Affected by drug-resistant weed infestation, high control costs, and lower relative yields due to genetic traits, the area under cultivation of soybeans in the country has continued to decline, from 20.25 million hectares to 15.97 million hectares since the last crop season in 2014/15.
